Australian minerals industry mourns death of worker at Newmont Tanami
Australia’s minerals industry is mourning the death of a worker at Newmont’s Tanami mine in the Northern Territory following an incident yesterday, Wednesday 4 February.
The MCA extends its sympathies to family, friends and workmates and thanks the emergency services personnel who responded to this incident.
Safety remains the highest priority for our industry, and any loss of life is a stark reminder of the critical importance of our ongoing efforts to ensure every worker returns home safely.
The MCA, alongside the entire Australian mining community, will continue to work hard towards eliminating fatalities across the sector.
As an investigation is now underway in cooperation with local authorities to determine the cause of the incident, no further comment will be made.
