MCA acknowledges the passing of Dr Bush Blanasi

Australia has lost an important Indigenous leader over the weekend in the long serving Chair of the Northern Land Council, Dr Bush-Blanasi.

On behalf of the mining industry, the MCA acknowledges his family and community in this time of sadness.

Dr Bush-Blanasi was a strong fighter for the land rights and recognition of his people, and worked tirelessly towards providing education outcomes, economic development, and self-determination for remote communities in the Northern Territory.

Dr Bush Blanasi was recognised for his contribution as the Northern Territory’s 2023 Australian of the Year, and with an honorary doctorate.

The MCA will build on the generosity and wisdom of Dr Bush-Blanasi’s leadership to guide our work on improving partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the mining industry.
