Australian minerals industry farewells Michael Roche

The Australian minerals industry is saddened by the death of a distinguished contributor to the nation’s mining sector, Mr Michael Roche, who passed away earlier this week after a very short illness.

Michael was widely known and respected across Australia for his passion and advocacy for mining, his generosity of spirit and his strong desire to help make the industry better.

Michael served as the Chief Executive of the Queensland Resources Council (QRC) for 11 years before stepping away in 2016 to pursue other interests.

He was a strong advocate for safety and a great supporter of women in mining, personally helping to create opportunities for women to become more involved in the mining industry throughout his time at QRC.

Michael will be sadly missed and our thoughts are with his wife Jenny and family.
